Studio Booboon presents a new body of hand crafted furniture and lighting pieces that transform off-cuts and surplus materials into meticulously constructed objects. The new collection titled ‘Fragments Becoming’  will be displayed at Spazio Milesi from 20th-26th April during Milan Design Week.
Rooted in the studio’s ongoing explorations of traditional artisanal processes, pattern development, sustainability and form, the exhibition explores a unique approach they have titled ‘3d marquetry’, where 2d pattern studies are transformed through a series of processes, to create the final 3d forms and bold patterns — allowing fragments to evolve into functional and beautiful pieces of furniture and lighting. 
For the collections on show the studio has worked with unstained woods, embracing their natural tones and grains, hanji(korean paper) and fabrics such as canvas and silk, as well as finishes such as ‘Ottchil’ traditional Korean lacquer.  Fragments becoming exploration of 3D Marquetry, embraces a spectrum of material remnants, utilising them as generative elements that form both the foundation and the expression of the collection.
