Fragments Becoming Furniture Collection

STUDIO EDITION PIECEs 2026

Studio Booboon presents a new body of handcrafted furniture that transforms timber off-cuts into meticulously constructed objects. Rooted in the studio’s ongoing exploration of traditional artisanal processes, pattern development, sustainability, and form, the exhibition introduces a unique approach the studio calls 3D marquetry.

Traditionally, marquetry is a decorative woodworking technique in which thin pieces of veneer are cut and arranged to create patterns. In this collection, Studio Booboon expands this two-dimensional technique into a three-dimensional construction method. Rather than applying a pattern onto a surface, individual timber fragments become the structure itself. Each piece of wood is selected, composed, and assembled so that the pattern grows through the volume of the object, shaping both its visual language and its physical form.

Each piece is finished naturally, without artificial colouring or stain, allowing the inherent tones, grains, and contrasts of the materials to define the final composition.
Presented in Other Circle 2026 Copenhagen, the exhibition features a cabinet, dining table, and a lounge chair, each exploring how discarded fragments can be reassembled into objects of renewed value, presence, and permanence.
